about leah
Leah was introduced to massage as a runner in her late teens and quickly noticed how it positively influenced her running and overall feeling of wellbeing. Her interest in massage grew as she continually received the work and started a regular yoga practice, awakening an evolving awareness and understanding of the body. Leah's massage practice allows her to bring together her understanding of the body, acquired massage skills, and creativity as an artist.
Leah started running and Nordic skiing about the time she was able to support herself on two legs. She was outside running laps around the house all day and, in her mind as a dreamer, standing on the Olympics' gold medal podium before she started kindergarten. Her passion for endurance sports continued to grow as she traveled to her father's Nordic ski and bicycle races many weekends throughout grade school and found her own passion for true competition when her fourth-grade class was introduced to a one-mile running race by the high school cross-county coach. Throughout middle and high school, Leah competed in cross-country running, track, soccer, and Nordic skiing. Her adult years have included participation in triathlons, climbing, backpacking, and running events from 5K to 100K.
Leah first became seriously interested in giving massage when she was given a sports massage book and began practicing on friends. She completed her first formal massage training in Minnesota at Eagle's Nest Institute in 1996 and furthered her education after moving to Seattle, becoming a 2001 graduate of the Brian Utting School of Massage. Leah is nationally certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, and a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association.
leah's massage treatments
In her private practice, Leah utilizes deep tissue sports massage and client education to help runners, cyclists, triathletes, and other active individuals enjoy their body's performance potential. Leah believes most everyone has the capabilities to enjoy a healthy, active and pain-free body, if it is nurtured and cared for consistently. She believes massage can be a beneficial part of everyone's self-care regiment.
Leah's massage treatments are approximately 75 minutes in length, allowing for variation in every session based on each individual's needs. She has a detailed, structural and goal-oriented style. Specific attention to detail makes her work unique. She has been assisting with the healing of injuries and structural alignment problems due to overuse or improper use since 2001.
Leah sees clients Monday through Thursday by appointment and is currently accepting new clients.
